Educational?

Do students have educational rights to wether they wantt to learn and what they want to learn? I’m not meaning subject choices either?

Interesting question. You’ve asked about what students’ rights with respect to what they *learn,* which is of course different from what students are *taught.* Generally speaking, in public schools there are local and state standards at each grade level, and there are district-adopted materials for each of the main classes. Teachers are required to teach to these standards and to use these materials.

There’s no law that says a student is actually *required* to learn *anything.* The law is all about what schools are required to *provide* in terms of access. In other words, the law requires that educators set the table, and it tells them what food to set out. But it doesn’t require students to eat. They can choose to “go hungry” if they so desire. The art of good teaching is to set the table and make it so appetizing that all of your students want to eat their fill.
