I’m in the midst of creating a small publishing company. My first title will be distributed in the beginning of this coming summer. My plan is to have 2 other titles to go with that book. I am looking for canadian children’s book authors and illustrators. It is my hope to find an author who can illustrate. Although that is not necessary. How do I go about finding them?

I want something authentic. I can cook and don’t mind spending some hours in the kitchen. I want good traditional recipes – not quasi watered down recipes for weaklings.

I have Cocina Criolla which is the bible of Cuban cookbooks but it’s in Spanish and my Spanish is rusty. I need a book that’s in English. Penelope Casas is suppose to be the best Spanish author for cookbooks but what are some other books/authors you would recommend? I’m also interested in Catalan cooking (Spain) or a book that specializes in Paella.

I am doing a project for English in which I must research authors and their literature who have written about science and it’s relation to other subjects (primarily religion).

Does anyone have any ideas on an author or any text that could support this topic?

I already have Walden by Henry David Thoreau, but a few more sources would be excellent.

I’m looking to query agents who represent authors similar in style to my manuscript, but a lot of those authors are British. I can find these authors’ British agents but I don’t know who represents them in America. Is there a website that might have this information?

How much does comic book authors get paid? Do they get paid more than any average job or less? Basicly would I be able to buy a house, pay bills and survive off of being a comic artist? Most people say that they don’t get paid much for their work?

I know that authors will send you copies of heir books to get an opinion from an avid reader….I just don’t know where to look. If anyone does this or knows how to get into this please let me in on the fun. I am an avid reader and just think it would be interesting to see books before they go to the publisher. I’m not looking to proofread, although that is an option too, I just want to give helpful information to writers before publication. Only serious answers please.
